Wildlife Habitat Canada's board visits Delta's facilities on the Delta Marsh, Manitoba

Pictured on the shore of Lake Manitoba (L-R) are Brad Fenson, Bob Barton, Kevin Harris, Jim Fisher (Delta), David Brackett, Julie Towers, Ron Bjorge, Jim Ross, Donnah DuMouchel, Len Ugarenko, Claudia Latsch, and Gerry Lee.
Since it's inception in 1985, Wildlife Habitat Canada has been supporting important work to help waterfowl across the country. Modeled after the US Federal Duck Stamp, WHC administrates the 'Canadian Duck Stamp', known officially as the Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp. Their primary source of funding is from Canadian duck hunters through the purchase of the conservation stamp. Wildlife Habitat Canada funds projects across the country and has funded a number of Delta projects in recent years. This includes work on Alternative Land Use Services, Hen Houses, and mentored youth hunts. They also partner with the Manitoba Habitat Heritage Corporation in signing Conservation Agreements to protect prairie potholes.
It was Delta's honour to host these dedicated individuals that make up the board of Wildlife Habitat Canada. We were able to tour them on the Delta Marsh, explain Delta's long history there and to thank them for their generous support. They spent some time on the other side of the marsh at the Manitoba Wildlife Federation's Outdoor Education Centre where we enjoyed a little target and clay shooting. They are doing a fine job representing Canadian duck hunters across the land.
