New Duck Stamp 'Envelope' for Gulf Coast Conservation
A new special-edition federal duck stamp envelope, or cachet, will be sold to raise money to purchase wetlands for inclusion in national wildlife refuges along the Gulf Coast.
The cost --$25-- is $10 more than the regular duck stamp, which hunters must purchase to hunt migratory waterfowl. The extra revenue will be used for the wetland purchases.
The cachet is being offered in response to the BP oil spill in the Gulf.
Federal duck stamp sales have raised more than $750 million since being introduced in
1934. More than 5.3 million acres of wetlands on hundreds of the 552 national wildlife refuges have been acquired.
The new stamp can be purchased by phoning 1-800-852-4897 or online at www.duckstamp.com.
