Delta: No Sunday Hunting Closure for Lake Ophelia National Wildlife Refuge
Delta Waterfowl Senior Vice President John Devney recently sent a letter to the refuge manager of Louisiana's Lake Ophelia National Wildlife Refuge outlining his concerns over the decision to eliminate Sunday waterfowl hunting.
"The elimination of Sunday hunting will hit waterfowl hunters in your region extremely hard," wrote Devney. "Most waterfowlers hunt on weekends and rely on public areas like national wildlife refuges for hunting access. By eliminating Sunday hunting, you are reducing hunting opportunities and could be jeopardizing long-term hunter retention."
