Ross’s Geese Fair Game in Canada

Ross’s Geese Fair Game in Canada

Spring conservation season hunters can pull the trigger with a little less consternation north of the border because Ross’s geese are no longer off limits.

Now, the smaller, shorter-beaked Ross’s geese can be hunted right along with spring snow geese in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

In addition, new regulations in Canada for the spring conservation season:

• Establish a spring conservation season for snow geese and Ross’s geese in Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

• Open Ross’s geese to hunting during the spring conservation season in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Nunavut.

• Increase the daily bag limit to 50 snow geese and Ross’s geese in Manitoba, Alberta, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. The possession limit is removed.

• Extend the spring conservation season in Saskatchewan through June 15, and allows all-day hunting.
